TF2 Pending Replace on of the trade_minecraft_realms servers with an updated version of the map.

Over a week ago, a user complained about realms_ff1 having broken lighting. I had previously also been annoyed by the lighting and clipping on the map, so I made the decision to update the map myself.

Trade_Minecraft_Realms_Redux is the result, an updated version of realms_final that includes properly clipped stairs for smooth travel, modern textures from Minecraft 1.20.0, a new handmade 2D skybox with matching lighting to provide softer shadows and more appealing sunset-esque lighting, and even a new (under construction) area of the map that focuses on trade map staples like heavy boxing and spy crabbing. I'm requesting it be added in place of either the older realms_v2, or the original offender realms_ff1.

The current version I have is a beta that includes every feature fully implemented other than the new trade focused area. Most of that area is still in the map and is 95% complete, but a key feature isn't working the way I want it to so I'm working on learning vscript in order to force it to work. As far as why I'm proposing the addition of a beta: since I have been publicly posting my map progress in the discord I have had a lot of people interested in playing with no way for me to host myself, and this recent setback pushes the timetables of a full release back further than I think most players were hoping for. I hope that having a playable beta version of the map that provides a (hopefully) improved experience, minus my completely new content, will be enough for most people. Since I'm also an active member of the community and have been for over a year I can also promise at least a few months of active fixes to any glitches or problems with the map, in addition to my new area.

I can provide a copy of the packed map release or any of the raw files and assets, and in the near future when the full version is finished I plan to upload it publicly on Gamebanana and the Steam Community Workshop.

I hope you'll consider my map for the servers.

Unfortunately I'm at work right now but I can send any files here when I get home in a few hours. Do you have a preferred host for the file (GitHub, MediaFire, Mega)?

This relates to one of the 2 sections of the new area I added. Part of it is a melee only heavy boxing area, and the other is intended to be a forced friendly area with loadout isolation rooms and a "spycrab" room that uses similar map logic to the spycrab rooms in neon heights.

I have been unable to get the friendly area to work consistently without a downside due to map logic not really existing for it, so I've picked up vscript knowing that the problem can be solved with vscript and/or sourcemod. I personally believe that a feature like that accessable to both teams could be very beneficial especially with a lack of a friendly command, and because it's built into a specific area of the map it will be much harder to exploit.

Actually I should clarify that by "loadout isolation" I mean back and white background rooms to provide solid color backgrounds for screenshots of loadouts or for checking out someone's loadout if you're trading with them

How long would it take to have this issue fixed? We would probably prefer a working version if we are to update a map. Realms servers are very popular so we dont want any issues on the map

Hard to say, there isn't great documentation on vscript for TF2 compared to something like sourcemod, so I'm not sure how long it'll take for me to learn what I need for the map. If needed then source mod could be used on the server side as it has been done before and I know that bnuuy on the UGC dev team has experience with a similar feature from his prior employment at CCU
